Drywall Hanging
- When starting a new construction home or Adu or any new room you hang up new drywall from scratch onto the studs
- When hanging drywall we hang horizontally and screw down to the studs.
- When the drywall is put up you leave an eight-inch gap for the mud to go in you don't want them to be flush.
- We have to use special drywall screws and patterns to call for inspection before taping and mudding.
- After these steps are complete we call for a nailing inspection
Drywall Taping, Mudding
- After the nailing inspection, we start the process of mudding and taping.
- Drywall panels come with slight bevels on both of their long sides. When the bevels are fitted together, they form a small indentation, about 2 inches wide, along the joints. Use the 6-inch taping knife to smooth and work the mud evenly into the joint, filling the entire indentation and wiping away excess mud including screw holes.
- For taping, you Cut a piece of paper tape or mesh tape over the joint while the mud is still wet for a process called “bedding.” Use the 6-inch taping knife to gently smooth the paper onto the wet mud, working out bubbles as you go. Wipe away excess mud with the knife.

- For corner joints, you use a metal 90-degree angle piece for a straight edge. Then smooth the corners out with mud.
- Let the mud dry and repeat the process two more times, then sand everything when dry to smooth.
Primer & Paint
- After all, the sanding of the mud is done the drywall is ready to be primed and textured.
- Once ready you cover all floors and everything with tape and plastic for a good finish.
- There are two ways to primer, you can use primer and paint together or primer first then texture and paint.
- There are a few ways to texture, like orange peel, knockdown, popcorn, or smooth finish.
- After you're done with all the steps you can cover all the joints with tape and start to paint, according to the client's choice.
Exterior Paint - First Steps
- Cover all working areas as needed (Windows, trees, planters, bushes, cars, etc..)
- Wash the house with a high-pressure machine (Water blast 2500 PSI)
- Prepare stucco as needed (open cracks wider and patch with stucco)
- Prepare wood trim by sanding everything down (Fascia board/Eaves & Frame), Apply caulking and bondo and sand as needed.
- Prepare a 6” trench around the perimeter of the house so you can fix the stucco that's underground
Exterior Paint - Finishing Steps
- Apply 2 coats of primer, trim, and stucco(To be selected by the customer)
- Apply 2-3 coats of paint (Color coat to be selected by customer) Oil Based.
- After the painting is done you can Cover the trench around the perimeter of the house.
- Clean up and haul away debris
- Make sure that all touchups are done before leaving especially any wood trim that needed to be sanded.
Exterior Paint - Stucco
- The first step we apply waterproofing paper(shark paper) before the chicken wire.
- Install wire mesh over existing walls(chicken wire).
- Before applying concrete, we call for a waterproofing inspection.
- Apply scratch (Rough base) coat cement, after this step is done we can wait 6 days to dry.
- Apply brown coat cement and then Wait about 4 days to dry.
- Apply color coat stucco, color texture to be selected by the customer, and then paint.
